A baby time capsule letter does not have to tell the whole story. One small detail—a funny sound, a family ritual or something you hope your child will discover—can bring a moment back to life years later.
If you want to write a longer letter, keep that full version somewhere you control. Capsule Later’s text option is designed for a short note of up to 180 characters, so it works best as a tiny snapshot rather than a complete journal.
Start with one real detail
Ask yourself:
- What does a normal day with your baby feel like right now?
- Which little expression makes everyone smile?
- What are you learning about being a parent or caregiver?
- Which hope could you share without telling your child who they must become?
Choose a detail that belongs to your family rather than trying to write a perfect quotation. “You laugh when we make animal sounds” says more about your life today than a polished sentence that could be written by anyone.
Short baby-letter examples you can adapt
Little one, your whole hand fits around one of my fingers. I hope you always find people who make you feel safe, curious and loved.
Today you laughed at the sound of a spoon tapping a cup. I hope your future still has room for small, ordinary joys.
We sing the same silly song every evening. One day you may forget the tune, but I hope you remember how loved you were.
You are just beginning your story. I do not know who you will become, but I hope you feel free to discover that person for yourself.
These are original examples, not templates you need to copy exactly. Replace a phrase with a detail that is true for you, then check the length before submitting.
Choose a future year thoughtfully
Think about what the opening year means to your family. A younger child, teenager and adult will read the same message differently. Capsule Later currently offers shared capsules for 2030, 2035, 2040 and 2050, subject to available slots. The year belongs to the whole capsule; it is not a custom birthday-delivery date.
Add a memory without exposing sensitive details
You can choose a photo or link instead of a text note. For example, use a simple family moment or a link you are comfortable sharing when the archive opens. Avoid full birth details, addresses, identity documents or other information you would not want in a shared archive. Keep your own original files and longer letters as backups.
Save a small moment with Capsule Later
Capsule Later is a shared digital time capsule, not a physical keepsake box or private email-delivery service. Choose a future year, leave a short note, photo or link, and reserve an available digital slot for a one-time $3 USD. The selected capsule opens in the shared archive on January 1 of that year at 00:00 UTC.
